Kenneth Poe Funeral Services

CHARLOTTE – Jean Baker White passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022.  She was born November 17, 1935 in Sweet Springs, West Virginia to Albra K. Baker and Irene B. Baker.

Jean grew up and was educated in local schools in Monroe County, West Virginia. After high school, she attended Concord College (now University) where she met and later married Kenneth Lee White in 1956.  Jean and Lee were blessed with three children, Greg, Mark and Susan.

After several company moves, the family settled in Charlotte in 1971 and made it their home. Jean was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved supporting her children’s and grandchildren’s many activities.  She was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, involved as a member of the women’s circle and participated in the quilting ministry.

Jean is survived by her children, Greg White and his wife, Jennifer, Susan Minges and her husband, Richard; her six grandchildren, Catherine Larson and her husband, Jordan, Baker White, Harrison White, Philip Minges, Sarah Minges and Henry Minges.  She is also survived by her brother, Arden Baker and his wife, Judy and her sister, Phyllis Maddox. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Lee; son, Mark and her brother, Charles.

Her family is so grateful to the many caregivers at Sharon Towers who took such good care of her these past seven years.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, August 27, 2022 in the Christ Chapel at Christ Lutheran Church in Charlotte.  The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
