CONCORD – Jack Harvey Matthews, 77, passed away in Concord, NC on Saturday, June 11, 2022 after a near-11-year battle with kidney disease.  He was born on April 8, 1945 in Charlotte and was proud to call himself a native Charlottean. 

Jack worked hard his whole life to provide for his family.  He spent fifteen years as a section foreman for Seaboard Railroad, ten years as a machine mechanic for Pet Dairy and twenty years as a tractor trailer mechanic for both Ezzell and Wilson Trucking lines.

In addition to his family, Jack’s passions in life included fishing, enjoying South Carolina peaches, listening to classic country music and tinkering with classic cars.  One of his most prized possessions in life was a red 1953 Ford flathead pickup truck.

Jack loved the Lord and loved sharing the gospel with others and leading them to the Lord.

After his passing, friends shared with the family how they relished listening to his stories, his humor and how they learned things from their talks with him.

Jack is survived by his wife of 48 years, Livvie Matthews; his three daughters, Sandra Topp and her husband, David, Susan Short and her husband, Jim and Stacey Matthews.

Services will be private.
