Barbara Dickson Scott of Charlotte passed away peacefully on May 6, 2022.

She was born in Charlotte, NC on March 17, 1934 to Rush and Lake Dickson. She graduated from St. Mary’s School in Raleigh and Finch College in New York City.

A lifelong member of Myers Park Baptist Church, she was known for her kind and gentle spirit. Barbara expressed joy wherever she encountered beauty in life. She loved to hear the magnificent Chancel Choir as much as she appreciated an eloquent sermon.

Barbara’s engaging personality drew her close to family and granted her many lifelong friends. She possessed a keen interest in the lives of others, enjoyed good conversation, and displayed an adept sense of humor. Good company was always received as a precious gift.

Embracing a love of interior design, Barbara was sought after by friends and family for her remarkable aesthetic sense. She used her love of people and beauty to great effect, transforming people’s homes into places of warmth and charm.

One of her true joys was to watch the birds which came to visit her garden. She will be missed by all who knew her, and for the inner beauty beheld within.

She is survived by her brother Rush Stuart Dickson, sister Jane Dickson Williamson, son Nigel Savage MacEwan, Jr., daughter Alison MacEwan Scott, and grandsons Charles Lindsay Scott, and William Abbott Scott.
