Mary V. Blum

Mary V. Blum, 84, formerly of Kingston died Sunday January 2, 2022 in Charlotte, North Carolina surrounded by her loving family. Born August 25, 1937 in Union City, New Jersey she is the daughter of the late Chester Leon and Leona (Szymanoski) Blum. For over thirty years, Mary worked as a registered nurse for Benedictine Hospital in Kingston and Ten Broeck Commons Rehab and Nursing in Lake Katrine. She enjoyed knitting, shopping, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. Her greatest joy was meeting and socializing with people. She often said, “There are no strangers in this world, only people we have yet to meet.” Mary was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Kingston, New York and St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. Surviving are her three daughters Michelle M. Brown and her husband James E. of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Mary Beth Christiana of Kingston, New York, and Susan P. Wood and her husband Kevin W. of Murphy, North Carolina. Grandchildren Stephanie M. Herzog and her husband William J. of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Brandon J.C. Brown of Raleigh, North Carolina and Daria N. Christiana-Wood of Raleigh, North Carolina, two great grandchildren Liam J. Herzog and Delaney G. Herzog. She is predeceased by her brothers Chester L. Blum and Joseph W. Blum both of New Jersey. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home, Inc. 27 Smith Avenue, Kingston.www.jvleahyfh.com. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 4-7 PM. A funeral procession will form Tuesday 9 AM A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers may be made in the form of contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital -501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
