Anne Broach Morris

Mrs. Anne Broach Morris, 94, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Sharon Towers. Anne was born in Decatur, GA, the daughter of the late Walter and Bessie Broach. She was a graduate of Southwest Dekalb High School and received her BS degree in Nursing from Emory University in Atlanta, GA. She served on the nursing staff of Emory University Hospital and later as a Home Health Care Registered Nurse for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. Subsequent to her active nursing assignments, she taught kindergarten for several years.

In 1974, Anne moved with her husband, J. Lee Morris, from Atlanta to Charlotte. Anne was an active member of Myers Park United Methodist Church, where she served on several church committees and was the President as well as the Chair of the Board of the Myers Park United Methodist Women. She was also a charter member of the Myers Park United Methodist Women’s Choir as well as a member of the Adults Plus Council. Anne was awarded a Life Membership in the United Methodist Women.

Anne’s community activities included membership in the Opera Guild of Charlotte and the Charity League of Charlotte. She was also a member of the Board of Directors of Friends of the Library at Queens University.

Anne is survived by her husband of 74 years, J. Lee Morris, and their four children: John Lee Morris, Jr., and his wife, Lisa; Jenay Morris Watry; Melodie Morris Palmer; and Jody Glenn Morris and his wife, Kirsten. Anne is also survived by six grandchildren: Connor and Jordan Morris, Emily Baldwin and her husband Will Baldwin, Ryan Watry and his wife Jamie Watry, and Lillian and Gibson Morris. Additionally, Anne is survived by three great-grandchildren: Clara, Eloise, and Opal Baldwin. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Andrew Watry.

A private interment will be held for Mrs. Morris at Forest Lawn East Cemetery to be followed by a memorial service for family members that will be live streamed at 2:00 p.m. on December 30, 2021. Please join the family virtually at https://boxcast.tv/channel/avywlradrkwnpw81mpef
