Wesley Ross Brandt

SPRINGFIELD, MI – Wesley Ross Brandt, 80, passed away in Matthews, NC on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.  Wes was born in Battle Creek, MI on January 18, 1939 to the late Ross Jon and Wilma Marie Brandt.  After graduating from Union City High School in 1957, Wes continued his education at Argubright Business College earning a degree in Accounting.  He loved his career as an accountant and worked for several accounting firms in Battle Creek and Marshall, MI.  During the later part of his career Wes ran his own accounting and income tax business. 

Wes married his wife, Jane on April 11, 1964.  They were happily married for fifty-five years and had two children together.  Wes and Jane were members of the former Birchwood United Methodist Church.  They began attending Chapel Hill United Methodist Church prior to moving to North Carolina. 

Wes was a member of the Marshall Jaycees and Lakeview Lions Club.  He spent many years volunteering in his community serving at the Salvation Army soup kitchen, the Lakeview Neighborhood Food Pantry, his church, the planning commission for the city of Springfield, and the Republican party. 

Wes was a kind and happy person.  He enjoyed people and loved being around friends and family.  Wes particularly enjoyed attending his children’s activites while they attended Harper Creek schools.  Among his other favorite pastimes was watching the Indy 500 along with Nascar racing. 

Wes is survived by his wife, Jane Ann Brandt; children, Susan Little and husband, Jon of Waxhaw, NC, David Brandt and wife, Allison of Stanley, NC; grandchildren, Jacob and Haley Little, and great-grandchildren, Trenton and Lylah Ruth Richardson.  He is also survived by a sister, Anne Brandt along with several nieces and nephews. 

A memorial service to celebrate Wes’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church officiated by Reverend Chad Parmalee.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 157 Chapel Hill Dr., Battle Creek, MI 49015.
