Robert F. “Bob” Wilde

December 12, 2023

Robert F. “Bob” Wilde, 85, of Charlotte NC, formerly of St. Louis, MO, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 12, 2023.

Bob was born December 28, 1937, to the late Arthur J. Wilde and Alma Loch Wilde. In his younger years, he loved to fish and hunt.  Bob humbly served our country through his service in the United States Marine Corps. He had a long career as an over-the-road truck driver and retired from Yellow Freight Systems after 33 years of dedicated employment. Accumulating miles by land was only one of his many accomplishments in life. His love of aviation as a hobby led him to earn his multi-engine pilot’s license, an achievement he was extremely proud of. Bob also possessed the incredible ability to know exactly what his wife Joyce was thinking without a word being spoken. Growing up in the same area of Missouri, they enjoyed a bond that included reminiscing back on decades of memories that were unique and special to them. Although Bob will be greatly missed, he will continue to be remembered by his family and friends.

Bob is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joyce A. Statler Wilde, his daughter, Stephanie Mankus and her husband, Tim. Survivors also include his sisters-in-law Virginia Wilde, Jessie Wilde, several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brothers, Arthur F. Wilde, and John G. Wilde.

Bob will be laid to rest at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Services will be private.

Arrangements are in the care of Kenneth W. Poe Funeral & Cremation Service, 1321 Berkeley Ave., Charlotte, NC; 28204 (704) 641-7606. Online condolences can be shared at www.kennethpoeservices.com.
