Stacey Allyn Almond

August 11, 2023

October 17, 1960 – August 11, 2023

Stacey Almond passed away peacefully at Novant Medical Center – Matthews on Friday, August 11, 2023. Born in Bremerton, WA on October 17, 1960, she was the daughter of Tommy and Margaret Almond of Mint Hill, NC and sister of Kelly Almond of Atlanta, GA.

Stacey earned Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees from UNC – Wilmington and Queens University. She was a collegiate cross-country runner and loved the solitude of long-distance running. Stacey had a successful 22-year career as a Portfolio Manager for Bank of America and relocated to Las Vegas, NV, Pawtucket, RI, and Charlotte, NC with the bank. After retiring from banking, Stacey became a respected shooting instructor and avid shooting sportswoman. She excelled at sporting clays, which she jokingly called “golf with a shotgun”.

Stacey was a lifelong learner with an unquenchable passion for reading. She loved words and could quote whole passages from favorite books.

Her other passion was for her many loyal dogs. She was never happier than with her nose in a book and a dog on her lap. That is how we will all remember her.

In addition to her parents and sister, Stacey is survived by nieces Cameron Seets of Denver, CO, Margaret Seets of Chapel Hill, NC, nephew, Charlie Seets of Raleigh, NC and other extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held in Stacey’s honor at St. John’s Baptist Church, Charlotte, NC on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at 2:00 pm. There will be a reception at the church Fellowship Hall after the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the St. John’s Baptist Church Foundation, 300 Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte, NC 28204.

Arrangements are in the care of Kenneth W. Poe Funeral & Cremation Service. 1321 Berkeley Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28204 (704) 641-7606. Online condolences can be shared at www.kennethpoeservices.com.

I am so very sorry to hear of Stacey's passing. The townhome she purchased was my brother's and I live down the street. My brother passed away in January 2022. I only meet her at the closing but I knew she would fit well in the neighborhood especially with the dogs. May God comfort and carry you during this difficult time.

Margaret, I know it has been a long time and I hope you will remember me from First Citizens. I am still a member of St. John's and now live in Albemarle.

Stacey was our friend in the shooting sports community. We met years ago on the shotgun ranges at the Charlotte Rifle and Pistol Club, and continued our associations at Rocky Creek Sporting Clays. We will remember her for her so very likable and giving personality; her cheerfulness; her intelligence; her wit and humor; and perhaps most of all for her ability to see beauty in all peoples, and in her life's experiences. She was an angel... taken from this earth all too soon. We pray her family and friends feel peace in mind and spirit... knowing that Stacey lives on in the hearts and thoughts of everyone who was blessed to have known her..

I went to school with Stacy and Graduated with her in 1979. My heart goes out to all her family and friends. Our prayers are with you and we know this has to be such a difficult time. Stacy and I were friends in school. She was a wonderful person. We both share the Love of Dogs and Animals. I know it's hard on her Furr babies as well. They will miss her tremendously. Do they have someone to go, where they can be loved and cared for as she would have wanted. If not please let me know if you need help with that. She is now passed Rainbow Bridge and has reconnected with her Babies that went before her. I look forward to that day one day. My heart just breaks for you all. Praying for the Lord will get you thru these days and months and years. We recently lost my Mother to Covid in January. 6 days after loosing my home and 4 service dogs to a total loss house fire. So sorry.
    Sincerely,
    Teresa Cox Craig
