Forrest Houston Black

CHARLOTTE – Forrest Houston Black, a true ambassador for Christ, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 22, 2023.

Forrest served in the armed forces before joining Sears where he managed the home improvement division for thirty-eight years.  After retiring from Sears, he joined Walk Thru the Bible ministries where he served until 2014.   He served as development director for twenty-two years traveling across the country in relentless and tireless pursuit of ministry donors, so the gospel and bible teaching could be taken to the lost in countries throughout the world. The impact of his work is far reaching and continues in countless countries around the world.  

Forrest is survived by his wife, Chris T. Black of thirty-nine years; children, Laurie Black, Jeffrey Black and his wife, Donna, Amy Black, and Christy Jacobs Williamsen and her husband, Bob; grandchildren, Houston Vandiver, Harrison Vandiver, Nelson Williamsen, Chrissy Williamsen, and Lee Williamsen.  Also surviving is his sister, Becky Burgess and her husband, Larry.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Love Black; parents, Jacob Black and Loree Black Holcomb; brothers, Donald Black and Wayne Black, and son, Lee Jacobs.

Funeral Services will be held at Noon on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at Central Church, 5301 Sardis Road, Charlotte, NC.  The family will receive friends following the service at the church.  Interment will follow at 3:00 PM at Forest Lawn East Cemetery, Matthews, NC.
