Clyde C. Dickson III

CORNELIUS– Clyde Cecil “Dick” Dickson III, 62, passed away at his home on Thursday, June 1, 2023.  A Charlotte native, he was born on March 23, 1961, son of Clyde Cecil Dickson, Jr. and Dorothy Copses Dickson.  

Dick attended school at Charlotte Latin where he played football and met his future wife, Cornelia "Cissie" Clarke.  After graduating, Dick began what would be a thirty-five year career at C.C. Dickson Company while also serving as a member of the Masonic Lodge in Chapel Hill, NC.  Throughout his career he made many friends and was well known for his kindness, humor and always having a smile on his face.  He was a loving father to his two sons and grandfather to his four grandchildren.  Dick loved the beach, and some of his fondest memories were of his time spent at Pawley's Island, SC surrounded by loved ones.  Dick will be remembered for his charismatic and affable nature as well as the care and generosity he showed to friends and family.

Dick is survived by his two sons, Clyde C. Dickson IV and his wife, Mary of Charlotte, and Preston Keyes Dickson and his wife, Carly of Charlotte; his mother, Dorothy Copses Dickson of Charlotte; four grandchildren, Cabot, Lowell, Lucas, and Eva.  Also surviving are his six siblings, Anne D. Jordan of Charlotte, Wynne D. Stegall and her husband, Edward of Monroe, NC, Liz D. Bleacher of Charlotte, Page D. Henderson and her husband, Mark of Charlotte, Thomas Huntley Dickson and his wife, Mary Ellen of Lancaster, PA and Walter Ernest Dickson and his wife, Judy of Stanford, CT.

Funeral services for Dick will be held 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Myers Park Baptist Church, 1900 Queens Road, Charlotte, NC.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will follow at Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
