Nicholas Costas Melissaris

April 4, 2026

Nicholas Costas Melissaris, born in October 1966, fell asleep in the Lord on April 4, 2026, at the age of 59. He was the beloved son of Costas and Nicole Melissaris and a faithful member of the Greek Orthodox community, where he found strength in his faith and traditions throughout his life.

Nicholas was a devoted father, loving son, and cherished brother. His greatest pride and joy were his children, Konstantine and Alexandra Melissaris, whom he loved deeply and supported with unwavering dedication. He shared a special bond with his sister, Christina, and valued the importance of family above all else.

In life, Nicholas had a lifelong love of automobile racing, finding excitement in the speed, precision, and camaraderie of the sport. He also enjoyed the world of comic book heroes, holding a particular admiration for Batman, whose courage and resilience he often appreciated. Nicholas also had a deep love for the sport of basketball. A lifelong player turned coach, his passion for the sport was felt by those he played against and the multitude of players he taught throughout his life. These interests reflected Nicholas’s spirited personality and his appreciation for perseverance and determination.

Nicholas will be remembered for his kindness, quiet strength, sense of humor, generosity, and the deep love he showed to those around him. He leaves behind family and friends who will forever treasure the memories they shared and the legacy of devotion he created.

His Forty-Day Memorial will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 600 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC.  There will be a Divine Liturgy beginning at 9:00 AM, followed by his Memorial service.

A Celebration of Life will also be held that evening from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM at Raintree Country Club, 8600 Raintree Lane, Charlotte, NC 28277.

May his memory be eternal.

Nick Melissaris was larger than life. And not just in his physical stature, but how he carried himself. He had the special touch with a razor and clippers in the barbershop, that he no doubt inherited from his father, leaving me satisfied and confident every time he gave my hair a trim. But it wasn’t just his skills with the razor but his skills in conversation when it came to the tough yet thought-provoking questions he would ask, which would have me constantly pondering, as a young kid in the barber’s chair, how I wanted my life to turn out.
While my dad (who loved Nick as a brother and friend) listened, Nick pushed me and my younger brothers to be the best version of ourselves and live our lives to the fullest. Even though we weren’t related by blood, there was never a doubt in my mind he loved me and my brothers like we were his own. A good-hearted man left this earth on April 4th, 2026. He was known as a son, father, and friend to some. But to me, he’ll always be Mr. Nick- the barber who encouraged and believed in me.

I am so sorry for your tremendous loss ~ my sympathies and prayers for all of you! Words can’t describe the impact Nicholas had in my life since being high school sweethearts. He remained a true friend to me throughout life. I know he is a guardian angel now. His wisdom, his empathy, his business sense and most importantly his love for his kids and family was what made Nicholas such an exceptional human being, father-brother-son and friend. I am blessed to have known him. Fly high my friend! You are with God and His angels now. This is devastating news and I am so sad that Nicholas is no longer physically here, but I rejoice in knowing God has wrapped him up in His eternal love!
