Nick D. Yiottis

April 30, 2026

CHARLOTTE – Nick D. Yiottis, 94, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026.  He was born on October 16, 1931, in Asimohori, Konitsa, Greece, to the late Dionysios and Efthalia Yiottis.

Nick immigrated to the United States with his mother, settling in Cleveland, Ohio.  There, he began building a life rooted in hard work, family, and community.  In 1960, he moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he would spend the rest of his life.

He worked at the Taylor Chair Company and later for a paint company in Cleveland before moving south.  In Charlotte, Nick became a partner in Tatsis Restaurant alongside his cousin Antonia Tatsis and her husband, Peter.  In 1975, he became the sole owner of the restaurant, proudly running the business until his retirement in 1996.

Nick was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  He married the love of his life, Georgia, on September 29, 1957, in Cleveland, Ohio.  Together, they shared 68 years of marriage filled with love and dedication.

Nick will be remembered for his deep love of family and the joy he found in spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchild.  He also enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, especially his morning routine of visiting local restaurants for coffee and conversation.  In his later years, he treasured the friendships he built at McDonald’s on Monroe Road, where he met regularly with his close group of friends—sharing stories, laughter, and companionship that meant so much to him.

Nick is survived by his beloved wife, Georgia; his children, Danny (Anastasia), Tessie, and Peter; his grandchildren, Nick (Casey), Georgia, and Dimitri; and his cherished great-granddaughter, Anastasia.  He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered in memory of Nick to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Foundation, 600 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203.

May His Memory Be Eternal.

Sorry for your loss Ms. Georgia, Danny, and Pete. I met Nick back in 1980 while working at Dixie Bearings, along with Jim, and Butch. When i worked at the hospital and airport. There were several mornings I had breakfast at Tatis. Nick would come over to the end of the counter facing the door to the left and would conversate with me about various subjects. Sports, Politics etc. After his retirement he would come by and have a meal. I was always glad to see him and shake his hand. To Pete I'm the one who had Cabg heart surgery after you did. Well Nick lived a long life. And he is with the Lord now. Believe me he will be looking down and over the Yiottis family. May God Bless All of You. Charles Whittington.
