Carol Elaine Walker

March 19, 2019

Carol “Elaine” Walker went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, March 19, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband William “Andy” Walker of 50 years and her daughter, Patrice. The memorial service to celebrate Elaine’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Carmel Baptist Church in Matthews, NC.

Elaine was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on April 4, 1944 to Henry Elbert Smith and Edna “Irene” Lott Smith. Elaine was a Waco, Texas resident for 33 years. She worked in various roles as an RN as well as being a minister’s wife for over forty years. She and Andy retired to Rogersville, MO. Soon after moving, Andy was diagnosed with lung cancer and passed away 6 months later. Elaine relocated to South Carolina in the summer of 2016 to be closer to her son and his family.

Elaine loved spending time with her grandchildren, watching the boys play baseball, and Sunday lunch with family. Elaine enjoyed spending time serving others and sharing her faith. She never met a stranger and loved to travel. She spent her free time rocking babies in the NICU, teaching Sunday School, playing dominos and participating in a weekly Bible study with the “Glad Ladies”.

Elaine is survived by her son, Russell and his wife, Susan, of Waxhaw, NC as well as her grandchildren: Corbett and his wife, Lexi, of Charlotte, Kendall, Langdon and Hampton of Waxhaw, NC, and her brother, Don, and his wife, Nancy, of Temecula, California.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mission: Dignity, PO Box 819109, Dallas, TX 75381-9109, MissionDignity.org. Please include a note that the gift is in memory of Carol Elaine Walker.

My memories of Elaine are very sweet and special. I am thankful to our Lord and Savior that I get to see her and Brother Andy again some day! I loved her voice mail that said, "Make it a great day!" I will always cherish the memories of Elaine at our wedding ( Brother Andy officiated), FBC Woodway College and Career Dept., Searsville Country Church in Valley Mills, and in their home on Baylor Camp Road. Also, she was always so hospitable to Craig when he was a bachelor. What a great cook and Southern Belle! We love you Elaine! You made it! Hallelujah!

I was so sorry to hear about Elaine's passing. I worked with her at Hillcrest for 5 years in the Case Management department. Every morning she would come in with a smile on her face. She was so kind to me and to everyone else she met. Her cubicle was right across from mine. Both of our mothers passed away within a week of each other. Elaine was such a sweet, Christian woman. You could tell that her grandchildren were the light of her life. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to get to know Elaine. I'll see her in heaven again someday.

Elaine will be dearly missed. Having had her across the street from our home we often shared fun conversations in the yard and or each others homes! We shared a love of our nursing professions. We were looking forward to growing old together! She will be greatly missed but we know that her new home is where she aspired to be! Heaven got another angel!

Elaine was a special cousin. We are thankful we could visit with her on her trip through Shreveport. We cherish the times we got to spend when we were through the Waco area. She lived a life of example and to be copied. We will miss her.

Elaine was a beautiful woman and friend that I met at a Bible study here in Sun City Carolina Lakes. She helped me when my husband died as she had just walked that journey two years earlier. I will miss her sweet spirit and soft words, but I know she is celebrating with her Lord and Savior in heaven and I'll see her again.

We were so shocked and sorry to hear about Elaine's passing; however she is rejoicing with Andy. We loved to visit whit her when Andy was our Sunday School teacher at Harmony Baptist Church. They were both special people to us. May God give you all strength and peace during this time.
