Marianne Warner Loftus

Charlotte – Marianne Warner Loftus died on January 7, 2019.  She was born October 31, 1929 in Des Moines, Iowa, daughter of the late Charles and Alice Warner.

She moved to Chicago, IL as a small child and considered Chicago her hometown.  While attending a dance at her church in Chicago, Marianne met her future husband, Patrick William Loftus, Sr.  Pat and Marianne were united in marriage on October 25, 1952.  They had a loving marriage of 65 years.

Marianne is survived by her sister, Margaret Warner Connolly of Phoenix, AZ and by her children and their cherished spouses; Patrick William Loftus, Jr.  and his wife, Katherine of DeBordieu Colony, SC, Marianne Waterhouse and her husband, George of Charlotte, NC, Alison Cherry and her husband, Joe of Charlotte, NC and Thomas Michael Loftus and his wife, Maria of Charlotte, NC.

As “Nanny”, her life was enriched by her beloved grandchildren; Patrick William Loftus III, Mary Catherine Loftus, Covington Warner Francis Loftus, Anna Margaret Loftus; Sam Booker Dillard III, Alison Claire Dillard, Kathryne Blair Dillard; Joseph Jordan Cherry IV and his wife Avery, Benjamin James Cherry and wife Megan, Barbara Cherry Brafford and husband Thomas; Maria Cevallos, Manuel Cevallos, Cristina Marie Loftus and Lucas Meteo Loftus.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church; Hospice & Palliative Care, Charlotte Region or Carrington Place.  The family would also like to thank the staff at Carrington Place for their loving care and support they provided to Marianne and the family.

    Our sincere condolences to Marianne's family.
    Marianne was a beautiful and gracious person and was very proud of her really great family.
    We first met Marianne, Pat and family in 1968 as across the street neighbors in Huntingtowne Famrs. Many memories and thoughts about that time. We have managed to keep in touch during the years. She will be missed by all we are sure.
