Alan Page Shaw

Alan Page Shaw, 75, of Charlotte and Linville, NC, died September 25, 2018 in the Watauga Medical Center.  He was born on July 2, 1943 in Burlington, Iowa, son of the late, Robert Carn Shaw and Wilma Hupfer Shaw.

Alan grew up in Winston-Salem, NC and moved to Charlotte in the 5th grade.  He graduated from Myers Park High School and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he would later serve a term on the Board of Visitors.

Alan co-founded the Photo Corporation of America in Matthews and served as an executive for sixteen years, the last few years as CEO.  In 1982, he founded                      

The Frame Warehouse of Charlotte and served as CEO until his death.

Alan was an avid golfer since the age of eight years old.  He was a member of Quail Hollow Club where he served for two terms on the Board of Directors as well as a member of Grandfather Golf and Country Club in Linville NC.

He was a fanatic fan of all sports, especially TarHeel basketball. He was known to many as “the man with the tickets”. Whether it was the Carolina Cougars, Hornets, Panthers or TarHeels - he loved to attend games and share his seats with others.

"Buffy", as he was known to many, was quick witted and a friend to all he crossed paths. He shared countless laughs with the "Moes" and loved their camaraderie. He had a soft spot in his heart for anyone in need and was known for his generosity.

Alan is survived by his wife, Virginia Thompson Shaw; sons, Alan Page Shaw, Jr. and his wife, Mary Howard and Robert Thompson Shaw and his wife, Ashley; grandchildren:  Alan Page Shaw, III, Jack McPherson Shaw, William Howard Shaw, Virginia Ruth Shaw and Finley Anne Shaw.  He is also survived by his sister, Susan Shaw Hudson and her daughters, Amy Hudson Parker and Laura Hudson Capoulun.

 A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday September 28, 2018 at Myers Park Presbyterian Church. A reception will follow.
