Janet (Jan) Richardson Lindsley

CHARLOTTE – Janet Richardson Lindsley, 82, a loving wife, mom and grandma, died peacefully on Thursday, September 6, 2018.  She was born January 21, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Bert and Gladys Richardson.  She attended Mackenzie High School where she met and later married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life for 64 years, Bob Lindsley.  While Bob served in the Army in Washington, DC, Jan worked as an administrative assistant at The Pentagon. 

While raising her two beloved children in Charlotte, Jan returned to school and received her nursing degree.  As a nurse, Jan worked in geriatrics, and later in home health care.  Jan later worked for Bob in sales with Curtis Industries.

Jan was a member of the Christian Home Sunday school class at Providence United Methodist Church, as well as Circle 6 and UMW. She also volunteered in many areas of the church including “Room in the Inn”, the soup kitchen, and the UMARR Sunday school class.

Jan is survived by her husband Robert Dale “Bob” Lindsley, her daughter Cheryl Lindsley Williams (Jim), son Robert Thompson “Rob” Lindsley, grandsons James Robert “Jimmy” Williams (Susan) and Joseph Michael “Joe” Williams; as well as her sister Peggy Karcher (Tom), brother Bert Richardson (Kathy), and three nephews.

The family would like to thank the memory care staff at Brightmore of South Charlotte, for their compassionate and loving care. 

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Providence United Methodist Church, 2810 Providence Road, Charlotte, with Reverend Bill Jeffries and Reverend Randy Harry officiating.  The family will receive friends at a reception immediately following the service. 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Providence United Methodist Church or Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
