LTC Granville Edward Hearn, Jr. USA, Ret.

Mr. Hearn was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on Thursday, July 12, 2018. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Pearl Shaw Hearn, on April 12, 2018. They were happily married for 77 years. Granville was born on July 9, 1918 and had just celebrated his 100th birthday. He was a long-time member of Myers Park United Methodist Church and active in the Fellowship Sunday School Class for over 50 years. Granville served proudly in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was stationed in Germany and had the opportunity to serve as a witness in the Nuremburg War Crimes Trial in 1946. Granville spent 28 years in the U.S. Army and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His career in the financial services industry spanned over 50 years before his retirement at the age of 95. He valued the trust of his clients and always enjoyed the opportunity to be of service to them. His passions later in life became golf and fellowship with friends at Providence Country Club. He achieved the goal of two holes-in-one, his last one occurring at the age of 97. Granville’s love for his family is what he will be remembered for most.

Granville was also predeceased by his daughter, Nancy, and son in law, David Michael Cline. He is survived by his children, Carol Kuester and her husband, Faison, Patricia Cline, and Granville E. Hearn, III and his wife, Katherine; grandchildren, Leah Wall, F. Shaw Kuester, Bryan Kuester and his wife, Dianna, Eric Kuester, and his wife, Katie, Ashly Karper, and her husband, Matt, David Cline, and his wife, Andi, Adam Cline, Edward Hearn, Susan Hearn, and eleven great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Myers Park United Methodist Church. A reception will immediately follow in Jubilee Hall at the church. His burial will take place in Seaford, Delaware.
