Cameron Anthony Connery

Cameron Anthony Connery, 23, was born in Sacramento, California on October 25, 1993 and passed away at home in Charlotte, North Carolina on September 14, 2017. Cameron was a warm, generous soul who was passionate about helping people and animals.

As such, he was outspoken and opinionated about social issues, proudly advocating for equal rights at every opportunity. Cameron enjoyed exploring new locales, learning about their rich history, and sharing his newfound knowledge with anyone who would listen. Most of all, he enjoyed bargain shopping and spending quality time with his younger brothers. ​He  was a 2013 graduate of Mt. Zion Christian Academy in Durham. He was enrolled as a student at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC.​

Cameron was predeceased by his great grandfather, Tony Mutoza, and great grandfather, Roy Hodges. He is survived by his mother, April Freddoso, his father, Michael Connery, ​his stepfather, Joe Freddoso, ​his partner, Michael Linger, his brothers, Chris Connery, Lucas Blake Connery​, and River Freddoso​,​  his great grandmother, Doris Mutoza,his grandmother​,​ Coralee Blake, his canine companion, Tucker, and many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

A memorial service will be held at the Hayti Heritage Center, 804 Old Fayetteville Street, Durham, NC 27701 on Friday, September 22nd at 4​:00pm​.

Casual attire at the memorial service is suggested.  The family is planning to wear Cameron's standard outfit, which was a fitted polo and jeans/kha​k​i pants or shorts.​ Others are encouraged to do the same.​ The family will be accepting donations to a special fund at the Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC in lieu of flowers. ​The focus of the fund will be to support women's charities and addiction centers that receive Food Bank assistance. ​The link for donations http://www.foodbankcenc.org/goto/cameronconnery.
