Ruby Genee Langford

September 3, 2016

Ruby Genee Ballenger Langford, 86, of Charlotte, NC died peacefully on September 3, 2016. Ruby was born on November 9,1929, daughter of William Claude and Manila Jane Ballenger. She was a survivor of Polio at age eight and not only learned to walk again, but graduated from East Central Junior College. Ruby worked in the office environment for a few years but, later decided to follow her dreams and become a hair stylist. She loved helping people look their best and soon opened her own business which she operated for over twenty years.

Ruby retired by the age of 58 and enjoyed traveling with her daughter. She loved meeting new people and simply radiated love through her beautiful soul. Anyone lucky enough to be around her felt the love. Ruby was also blessed by two nephews, Lamar Sanders and Jay Charles Hanna who would call her and lift her spirit, talking of current or past times. And, T McLeod of Charlotte NC who called Ruby his sister in Christ and enjoyed praying and singing gospel music with her as often as possible. And, so thankful to have neighbors that are family. Always there to support in anyway needed. Everyone can rejoice in the fact that we will all be together again one day.

Survivors include one child, a daughter, Pamela Lynn Langford of Charlotte, NC and a brother, John D. Ballenger of Pine Bluff, AR. She had too many nieces and nephews to name them all but, all remembered in her heart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin D. Langford; sisters, Delia Anglin, Ida Ballenger, Mabel Hanna, Margaret Hallman, and Delores Sanders; brothers Horatio, Billy, Mac and Buddy (Claude) Ballenger.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 in the Goshen Cemetery in Carthage, Mississippi. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:00 until 10:45 AM at the Wilcox Funeral Home in Carthage.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region 1420 E 7th Street Charlotte, NC 28204.

Her Love and Kindness was beyond compare and will be missed by all that were blessed to have known her. "Frog!" Love never ends. May her memory be eternal.
