Fred E. Wise, Jr., MD CHARLOTTE - Fred E. Wise, Jr., MD, 95, of Charlotte, NC, died Saturday, February 20, 2016, at his home. Fred was born November 18, 1920, in South Charleston, West Virginia, to the late Fred Eugene Wise and Maggie Harshbarger Wise. He graduated from Marshall College, The Medical College of Virginia and interned at The US Naval Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. After serving two years in the Navy, he did a general practice for three years in Cabin Creek, West Virginia, followed by a residency in Radiology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. In 1952, Dr. Wise joined the Nalle Clinic in Charlotte, NC where he would practice Radiology until his retirement in 1997. Dr. Wise was a long-time member of Myers Park United Methodist Church, the Fellowship Class and a member of Myers Park Country Club for over fifty years. He was a former Shriner, member of the Wildlife Club and a Stephen Minister at his church. Following his retirement, he volunteered with MedAssist. In addition to his parents, Dr. Wise was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis Price Wise and by a daughter, Paula Jean Wise, as well as two brothers, Lloyd and Charles Wise and a sister, Frances Wise Paxton. He is survived by his wife, June Williamson Wise; daughter, Pamela Wise Brownscombe of Charlotte, two granddaughters, Jennifer and Julia Brownscombe; step-daughter, Louise W. Rankin of Charlotte and step-son, John Watkins Rankin Jr. and his wife, Carolyn and their children, Gracie and John Rankin III; nephew, John Paxton; nieces, Linda Paxton Metzger and daughter Laurie, Sandra Wise Moore and children Abby and Charles. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday in the Francis Chapel of Myers Park United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends in Jubilee Hall following the service.
