James Zuill Keesler II

James Zuill Keesler II died peacefully on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at his home. He was born in Charlotte on May 17, 1989, son of Ann Douglas Keesler and James Zuill Keesler of Charlotte. In addition to his parents, James is survived by a brother, Douglas McConnell Keesler and his grandfather, Robert Edward Douglas and his wife, Nancy, of Charleston, West Virginia. He is also survived by numerous cousins, aunts and uncles and Jewel and Merlin, his faithful companions who were with him throughout. James was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lacy and Jane Moore Keesler of Charlotte and Mary Ann Power Douglas of Charleston and an uncle, Robert Edward Douglas, Jr. of Charlotte.

Throughout his life James loved to participate in sports including gymnastics, soccer, and lacrosse. He was musically inclined and played the trumpet for many years. He loved boating, fishing, hiking and throughout his life, was surrounded by many friends. James graduated from Myers Park High School and was a 2012 graduate of Queens University of Charlotte where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, Pi Sigma Alpha (political science honor) and Order of Omega (fraternity leadership). While in college, he was a much loved employee of Sleepy Poet Antique Mall where he was known to be enthusiastically helpful, courteous and friendly to all dealers and customers. The owners and operators became an important part of his extended family and support system. He graduated in 2015 from The Charlotte School of Law and was in the process of preparing to take the North Carolina Bar Exam. James was passionate about the law, and enjoyed serving as a law clerk in the office of Java' O. Warren.

A service to celebrate the life of James Keesler II will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church, 200 West Trade St. The family will receive friends following the memorial service in the Wood Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Queens University of Charlotte, 1900 Selwyn Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28274.
